Affordable beauty: My 5 current go-to drugstore make up products

January 7, 2018

Looking good doesn’t always mean that your bank account should suffer, although that’s often the case for me because my boujee ass likes to splurge a little when it comes to my face, but I got to say I actually like so many drugstore make up brands, so that’s good news for me and my bank account.

My current daily make up routine consists of many drugstore products, some i’ve used for years the others i’ve discovered a while now and i’ve been loving them ever since. So here are the drugstore products that I reach out to the most:

Maybelline Fit Me Luminous+Smooth foundation

This foundation is definitely one of my favorites in the drugstore departement, it has a medium to a buildable full coverage, it stays on pretty well during the day and it doesn’t feel heavy on the face at all. I usually have combination skin so during the summer days I use the Matte+Poreless but because of the cold weather I do tend to get a little bit more dry so I go for the Luminous+Smooth which feels more hydrating and gives me a dewy finish. The shade that I use is 120.

NYX highlight & contour pro palette

I wouldn’t really say that i’m a big fan of heavy contour, nor do I always have the time for that kind of thing when i’m putting my make up on but this is a pretty good affordable palette to have whenever you want to glam things up a bit. It has four highlight shades, two of them are shimery, that give a subtle highlight look but if you like intense glow like me these two wont do the job for you. There’s also four contour shades with a great selection of warm neutrals and cool tones. The way I like to use it is mix 2 contour shades and apply them with a big fluffy brush to where I would normaly contour but not in a precised way just to give my face some warmth and use the yellow shade to set my under eye concealer. I think for the price point, you get a good ammount of product and the pigmentation of the colors is pretty nice too.

Maybelline Lasting Drama 24H gel eyeliner

I started using this eyeliner 6 years ago and I still do, so that must say something right?! If you like eyeliners that come in gel formulas and you’re on a budget you should definitely get this one: It’s creamy, long lasting and it doesn’t move. Just keep in mind that it dries out quickly when you apply it so you have to work with it a little fast, the intensity of the color is pretty good and it dries out to matte finish.

Maybelline Volum’ Express The colossal Big Shot mascara

The first mascara i’ve ever used in my entire life is the Volum’ Express The colossal, I tried so many different formulas: The Waterproof, the Smokey, the Cat eyes… The one that i’m using now is the latest they’ve came up with which is the Big Shot and it is amazing! It gives me both length and volume for my almost none existing lashes, definitely a must try.

L’Oréal Infallible Matte Lip Paint

This is the product that I am most excited to talk about. I bought this lipstick on a whim a week ago – which is a short period of time I know – but I am hooked already. The texture is so bomb, for a matte liquid lipstick its definitely creamy and it almost feels like i’m wearing a lipbalm already, the pigmentation is good and its very comfortable to wear. I picked out a color called “nude on fleek” which is a pretty nude with brown and peachy undertones, perfect for a natural daytime look but I will definitely add more shades to my collection.

Have you ever tried any of these products? Do you have any favorite drugstore products that you love? Let me know in the comments.
